Into the Doors

youtube.com

A man in a record store is browsing music when he picks up a Doors album. A militant Doors fan (played by Bruce McCulloch) approaches and aggressively insists that he must listen to The Doors in a very specific way - with the lights off, alone, while growing his hair out. The sketch satirizes obsessive music fans and their gatekeeping attitudes about how their favorite bands should be experienced. The sketch humorously captures the overbearing nature of hardcore music fans who believe their way of experiencing an artist is the only legitimate way. McCulloch's character represents the stereotypical elitist record store patron who judges others' music tastes. Features Kevin McDonald as a Depeche Mode fan in the background, who also gets criticized.

CAUSE JIM FUCKIN' MORRISON TOLD ME!
The gypsies had no home and the Doors had no bass.
Show me the way! Was that a Frampton reference? In MY store?
You have to listen to The Doors with the lights off, alone, while growing your hair out.
