Theo (played by Dave Foley) is a "groovy" divorced teacher who insists he's the cool teacher. He tries far too hard to relate to his students by breaking down traditional teacher-student boundaries. Theo yells, swears, confides in his class about his personal life including his heroin addiction, attempts to out a gay student, and tries to steal the student's girlfriend Linda. The sketch is a darkly comedic look at an inappropriate teacher who shares too much and reveals his own weaknesses and insecurities in uncomfortable ways.

The sketch is a satirical take on teachers who try too hard to be relatable and "cool" with their students, crossing professional boundaries in the process. Dave Foley's performance captures the desperation and awkwardness of a man going through a difficult time who inappropriately uses his students as an audience for his personal problems.
