Trick-or-Treat with Fran Drescher

youtube.com

During the 2023 SAG-AFTRA actors strike, Fran Drescher (Sarah Sherman) visits a suburban couple (Nate Bargatze, Ego Nwodim) on Halloween night to enforce strike-friendly costume rules for trick-or-treating children. She explains that kids dressed as characters from struck content (Spider-Man, Barbie, Black Panther) are "adorable scabs" and must change into SAG-approved costumes. Drescher offers alternatives like "Harry Potter as described only in the book," "minor characters from the Bible," or Hoda Kotb instead of Yoda. She demonstrates how to modify costumes: Wolverine without claws becomes "any gay guy over 50," and Mario with a chef's hat becomes "the guy from the pizza box." The sketch culminates with Drescher explaining the strike negotiations using a trick-or-treating metaphor about studios hoarding Kit Kat bars while refusing to share.

I'm here to teach you how to do Halloween during a strike. That would be promoting the companies we're striking against which makes all of these children a bunch of adorable scabs.
This year you can't be Yoda, but you can be Hoda.
Say you're dressed as Wolverine, just drop the claws and voilà, now you're any gay guy over 50.
All us actors are saying is break me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar.
